When Margo and Bing G. asked us to clear their home after a
move to a senior community, we didn’t expect it to benefit another senior
community and the people of Palatine and McHenry County, but it did!
Margo and Gin’s home didn’t have enough items of value to
make a sale of their items pay for the effort, so they elected to let us help
them donate the items to the Home of the Sparrow. Their cast-off items will be
sold at the Sparrow’s Nest Thrift Store in Palatine. Affectionately known as 'The Sparrow', they “provide hope,
opportunity and support that empowers women and children, as they journey from
homelessness to self-sufficiency.” The
Sparrow creates a path to affordable housing, and offers a rapid rehousing program
which helps homeless women and children homes quickly. We are proud to work with them regularly.
But that wasn’t the
extent of Margo and Bing’s generosity. Margo and Bing had an 8 foot Christmas
Tree that weighed more than 250 lbs. They had tried to sell it, give it
to the kids and to give it away--to no avail. It was just too big to move and
too heavy to manage for most regular folks. Even the Sparrow didn't want it.
After a bit of searching, we found a place for the tree,
where many could enjoy it for years and years to come. Our friends at Bridgeway
of Bensenville were happy to accept it as they have a large atrium space to fit
this massive but beautiful tree. So our crew hauled it from Elk Grove to Bensenville, where, as you can see, it found a new home.Standing in front of the tree, Karalyn Kibbey, Director of Community Outreach is very pleased indeed!
If you wonder what to do with your extra household items and whether they would be worth a sale, reach out to us. We will turn around a quick sale or make
sure the items find a great home that benefits people—not corporate interests.
We take care of it all so you don’t have to.
